English proficiency and cultural differences

Silent Voice

Limited English proficiency creates barriers between cultures and can result in a lack of growth of members in these communities. It can also make it difficult to succeed in higher education and attain jobs. Adults with limited English proficiency also have higher rates of unemployment and lower wages. A result of this effect is that it can create a poverty trap for many families.
