Baton Roots Community Farm earned the 2025 "Innovation in Health" award from the Louisiana Recreation Professionals Association at their annual meeting on November 20, 2025, in Baton Rouge, LA. This recognition highlights the program's success in building a culture of health within our community. The award celebrates practical efforts that improve well-being through creative and effective approaches.

How Baton Roots Community Farm Builds Health in the Community
Baton Roots Community Farm focuses on more than just growing food. We integrate sustainable and regenerative growing, access to fresh produce, and community engagement to create lasting benefits. The farm provides no-cost, locally grown produce to our neighbors in food insecure areas of Baton Rouge. But Baton Roots moves beyond food to work with people holistically.
Every month, Baton Roots hosts Sow Good Saturday, a no-cost event where neighbors can learn about gardening, cooking skills and nutrition, and movement while having fun at the farm! There is a garden demonstration which provides in-real-time, seasonal tips for home and community gardeners; an all-levels yoga class under the shade of the live oaks at the farm (yoga mats provided!); and a farm-fresh cooking demonstration powered by our friends at the American Heart Association.
Check it out for yourself!
The next Sow Good Saturday is on December 6th from 10am-12pm. We hope to see you at the farm.
