Education to Career Coalition Quarterly In-Person Meeting 2/20/24

Building from the January monthly meeting, the E2C Coalition in-person convening on February 20th reviewed the collectively determined milestones by working group and created then assigned action items with due dates.

All of these tasks and contextual information was input on a tracker accessible to all coalition members. This will be the road map for each working group (Early Childhood, Literacy, Utilizing Schools As Hubs, and Continuous Learning & Workforce). Early childhood looked at the connection between services and the ability to partner with the Schools as Hubs working group. Coalition partners in the 'Literacy' workgroup designated next steps to capture baseline data, pulling from existing resources.

Capital Area Food Equity (CAFÉ) Coalition Quarterly In-Person Meeting 2/21/24

Our February CAFE meeting focused on expanding the planning around Summer Feeding, acknowledging the governor’s opting out of the Summer EBT program by the USDA.

During this meeting, we discussed the Summer Feeding planning for youth by the EBRPSS. This includes expanding site locations for summer feeding, M-F. Also discussed is their desire to do supper and weekend feeding. Organizations at the table included DCFS, BR General, EBRPSS, Invest Louisiana (formally Louisiana Budget Project) and Huey & Angelina Wilson Foundation.

Transportation & Mobility Coalition Quarterly In-Person Meeting 2/22/24

Our February Transportation & Mobility Coalition convened on 2/22/24 to hear from CATS interim CEO, Theo Richard.

Mr. Richard presented the numerous projects that CATS is looking to implement or are currently implementing while answering questions about the projects. Project examples include the microtransit in Baker, CATS on Demand, and a reduction of unused bus stops.

This information will prove valuable when the coalition is breaking into working groups, reviewing the existing work happening, and how to amplify beneficial activities while addressing the gaps.
