The City of Ascension, in partnership with public artists Morgan Udoh and supporting artist Skinny Dope, is proud to announce the completion of a vibrant new interactive mural at the Lemman Memorial Park splash pad.

The mural, painted directly onto the splash pad’s concrete surface, is a celebration of Louisiana’s iconic swamp life, featuring colorful depictions of tiger sharks, gators, crawfish, and catfish. Inspired by the natural flow of the Mississippi River and the rich ecology of the region, the design incorporates swirling water lines and bold hues that invite play and discovery.

In a unique twist, water-revealed characters are hidden around the perimeter of the mural, encouraging parkgoers to grab pails and buckets and explore the artwork through splash and movement. This blend of visual art and playful interaction offers a joyful experience for children and families while highlighting the cultural and environmental beauty of Louisiana.

“I wanted to create something that didn’t just sit still—something that invited movement, laughter, and connection,” said lead artist Morgan Udoh. “This piece celebrates both place and play.”

The Lemman Park splash mural is part of an ongoing effort to activate public spaces through creative placemaking, supported by the City of Ascension and local artists committed to community engagement.

The public is invited to visit Lemman Memorial Park and experience the magic firsthand. Just add water.
