This Earth Day, Garden Place Elementary is coming alive with creativity and community! In partnership with The Preservery Foundation and Birdseed Collective, The Walls Project is reactivating the school garden and transforming outdoor spaces with student-led art.
Throughout the week of April 14–18, students will roll up their sleeves in 45-minute sessions to help restore and prepare the school’s garden beds for a new growing season. With guidance from The Preservery Foundation, students will learn about soil health, planting, and the importance of caring for green spaces in their neighborhood.
At the same time, Birdseed Collective will lead the design and installation of a large mural on the school’s shipping container, turning it into a vibrant piece of public art. Students will take part in the painting process, adding their voices and creativity to a lasting work that reflects their school and community.
Together, these efforts will bring fresh color, energy, and purpose to the Garden Place campus, celebrating Earth Day not only as a day of environmental awareness but also as a hands-on reminder of the power of art and nature to grow stronger communities.
